Bus Journey

The noise was louder now, deafening, practically unbearable.
It never seemed to stop, slowly at first but quicker over time, a wave of discomfort began to effect everyone within earshot. The pitch was unworldly, a screeching of such intensity that all around refused even to acknowledge its existence. One of these people most affected was a middle aged man by the name of Jacob.
Jacob gritted his teeth and narrowed his eyes tightly. He took a deep breath a braved a glance over at the source of the noise. Man I hate children, he thought to himself. The mother of the child looked like she shared a similar view on the world as she gently tried to encourage it to stop its incessant bawling.

Stolen Metaphors & Changed lines

Being with you is electric,
shocks replaced with butterflies,
perilous and sweet.
The dark and the rain and tea and fish,
mean nothing to most but everything to me.
Being with you changes everything,
hugs more than hugs,
words more than words,
kisses more than kisses…
Even time.
Being with you changes time,
be it the ticking of a clock
or the beating of my heart,
time is never quite enough around you.
Being with you is unconditional,
if you were a storm
I’d be dancing with the thunder.
Being with you is my now.
Being with you is my happy.
Being with you is my future.
Being with you is fantastic.

A Poem about a Girl

Dark and the quiet of comfort,
two minds, so different yet travelling together
and for a while all is settled.
Life stops rocking but my heart still beats.
We said romance is but a dream,
but this is better.
This is real.
I don’t know a lot,
I don’t know you yet,
I don’t know me yet,
and I don’t know us yet.
But I do know,
I want to.
Seven hours is a long time
but it goes by so quickly.

Rescuing Dr. Caroll

THIS IS NOT A LINK

Today in HorridCarrot studios (My Flatmates bedroom/our kitchen) we return to playing the Rare hit, Perfect Dark, included in the Rare Replay package.

Again we take up the mantle of super sexy, super spy, Joanna (surname yet to be Wikipedia-ed) in her battle (?) against evil corporation (we assume) DataDyne.

  • I think I should point out now that we clearly haven’t been paying a huge amount of detail to the story line, and just really enjoying shooting many many bad guys.

A lot happens in this episode, and in the aim of titillating your taste buds yet avoiding spoilers for a 17 year old game I will just tell you a few things to keep your eyes peeled for:

  • Our Super Sexy Spy Bum
  • Op Shotguns
  • Mouse Romance
  • Bad Ass Lasers
  • Blinded by the Night!
  • Use of our Initiative (Not Google)
  • Intense Elevator Usage
  • And finally….. Unacceptable Scientist Casualties

Enjoy…..

A poem about a nightclub

Tonight was both too long, and yet too short.

I spent my night dancing with people I know so well and people I didn’t know at all.

And all at one it occurred to me, you became clear, you were both of those people.

Tonight brought many revaluations.

I didn’t like this club.

Nine pound was a lot of money for a night where you only know five songs.

And I’m not as good as falling out of love as I thought.

We are apart but too close.

We are still not close enough.

I see you, and I see everything.

You dance differently, badly, but fantastic in every way to me.

You smile.

I smile.

You look elsewhere, I dont know where I’m looking.

The lights of the club highlight nothing but buried emotions.

I look for anybody who can take my eye my eye away.

No things working, my brain won’t pull itself away from you.

I don’t t know what to do.

I only know what I want to to do…….

Off to be the Wizard – Scott Meyer

So a little back story here, my flatmate works in a library as a library assistant, that’s what you and I would consider a librarian. Turns out the librarian is more of a shadowy figure pulling the strings in the background and not the people you see at the library. Regardless she’s my book dealer…. She hits me up with the good stuff, and she knows what tickles my fancy. So one day she off hands mention a book she saw, that I would like cause, and I quote ‘it looks a bit odd’.

I must admit, when I picked it up and first started reading, I was doubtful. It was odd, and tongue in cheek, but in a way that made me a little bit embarrassed for it. It tripped over itself like an awkward kid. But like all great puberty stories it quickly found itself and I found myself quickly absorbed into a strange world somewhere inbetween hackers and King Arthur. The characters themselves are instantly likeable, from the awkwardness of Martin stuck in a new land, to the plain simplicity of Phillip the mentor.

I quickly found myself wanting to read more and the humour is the two that once you get it, it’s stuck. I would reccommend this book to people of a certain sentiment, perhaps those with a specific type of humour. Give the authors web comics a read, and if they make you chuckle, don’t hesitate to stop and pick up a copy of this book!
